playstation 3 problems reading discs

I have some problems with my playstation 3 and it happened when I was playing LittleBigPlanet and it froze up on me so I had no choice but to restart it. The side-effects weren’t good .
1. When I start the system, it doesn’t read the disc until I take out the disc and put it back in.
2. When I’m playing a game and I press the PS button, the system will freeze so I have to restart the system.
3. When I’m playing a game and I hold the PS button and hit Quit Game, the system restarts.
Has anyone had this problem before? Does anyone know how to fix it? Do I need to get it repaired, and if so, how much will it cost?
what is your software version or have you recently update it look iwill give you steps to make it work :restore all ps3 default settings if it doesn’t work try update your ps3 if you have available update if it doesn’t work format your hard drive if doesn’t work there must be a huge problem with your ps3 so send it to sony and i think if your warranty expired it will cost about $100-$200
