External hard drive and xbox 360?

I purchased a cirago 320gb usb external harddrive to store music and movies then watch them on my xbox. It is formatted to Fat32 and the xbox didnt recognize it. I then formatted it to NTFS and then reformatted to Fat32 and it still isnt recognized. Then i used transmac to format the drive to hfs+ and it is recognized. What’s going on? I have a pc and much rather have fat32. Could there be something in the harddrive preventing it from being recognized by the xbox when formatted to fat32? please help and i do not want to share over the media center
Is it the file system of the harddrive I bought that is causing this? and can i do anything about it so that it will work on my xbox?

An xbox will only recognise certain file systems. It’s to stop you upgrading the laptop hard drive hidden away in the plastic casing they hide it in.
