Burning xvid/divx movies to dvd to play on xbox 360?

To play a xvid or divx movie on your xbox 360 via dvd.
what does it have to be burned as? data or bootable dvd?
and does it matter what dvd type it is (dvd+r/-r?)

I know you can put movies to flash drive, but i wan’t to free up my hard drive.

It doesnst matter what kind of DVD it is. I’m pretty sure it could even be a cd. just burn it as a data CD/DVD. if it is a DVD, you can fit about 6 movies on it, just so you don’t waste DVDs.
I use Nero StartSmart, so I go to burn data DVD, then just drag the movies onto Nero and start burning.
